Many of us had to adapt our teaching due to social and physical distancing measures brought about because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be very hard to predict how the rest of the academic year will play out, therefore, planning for a variety of situations is advantageous. Will laboratories be allowed to happen? How will we keep students engaged with online teaching? How can we give students the best possible learning experience?

#DryLabsDownUnder is an ideas exchange forum that was inspired by colleagues from the UK. A team from University of Oxford started #DryLabs20 and Dino Spagnoli is hosting the Australian and New Zealand equivalent. Join us!

Our third meeting is planned for August 4 at 1 pm AEST (11 am in the west). The speakers will both discuss their experiences with online laboratories in semester 1:

  • Sylvia Urban (RMIT) - An agile approach to online chemistry laboratories
  • Vicky Barnett (Curtin University) - Online approaches to chemistry laboratories, where your colleagues "don't get labs"!
